About Beverly

Mission: Embodied Healing

My mission is to provide services that lead to healing in the best ways possible. At the core of my work is the principle of embodied healing…this means not just thinking you feel better. It means experiencing healing in every part of you.

Many times Embodied Healing includes an uncomfortable journey into getting to know your body again, or maybe even for the first time. After trauma, we’re often angry at our bodies for betraying us, and we try to avoid feeling in our bodies.

I call this place the Discomfort Zone! We tend to try to stay in our comfort zones, but change and healing rarely happen when we’re comfortable. Staying comfortable is a way to avoid.

That avoidance can look like many things:  substance use, compulsive overeating or overspending, binge-watching TV, hours of flat-lining on social media. True healing includes putting the blame for trauma where it really belongs…Learning to appreciate what our bodies have done to help us survive.

It also means grieving loss…loss of innocence, loss of health, loss of energy, loss of the family or partner who was supposed to show up for you.

This probably sounds pretty scary! It doesn’t have to be. Including body-oriented psychology and embodied healing with trauma treatment can be done in a safe, respectful, and gentle way. Even when it’s in an Intensive Session!
